Various forms of ice have been found in many locations within the frigid reaches of our galaxy, from interstellar clouds to comets, moons, and planets. But a particularly intriguing and rare type, “ferroelectric” ice – ice crystallized so perfectly that it can sustain a giant electric field – has never been detected by astronomers. Although a new study has produced evidence that ferroelectric ice, also known as ice XI, likely does exist out there.

Until now it was assumed that the human genome, or "book of life", is largely the same for everyone, save for a few spelling differences in some of the words. Instead, the findings suggest that the book contains entire sentences, paragraphs or even whole pages that are repeated any number of times.
The findings mean that instead of humanity being 99.9 per cent identical, as previously believed, we are at least 10 times more different between one another than once thought - which could explain why some people are prone to serious diseases.

British intelligence officials may have colluded in the torture of a British terrorism suspect who suffered months of appalling mistreatment, the Old Bailey was told yesterday. The officials appeared to have forged a tacit agreement with Pakistani torturers, one which suggests both sides in the war on terror have come "to share common standards of illegality and immorality", the court heard.
Salahuddin Amin was repeatedly beaten, threatened, and witnessed the torture of other detainees while being questioned by the Pakistani security service, the ISI, over an alleged plot to bomb targets in the UK, said his counsel, Patrick O'Connor QC.
The Binary Research Institute (BRI) has found that orbital characteristics of the recently discovered planetoid, "Sedna", demonstrate the possibility that our sun might be part of a binary star system. A binary star system consists of two stars gravitationally bound orbiting a common center of mass. Once thought to be highly unusual, such systems are now considered to be common in the Milky Way galaxy.
They claim that the Iraqi government influenced the judges and go on to say that the death penalty is an inhumane punishments that is all the more indefensible following a guilty verdict in an unfair trial. Hussein's lawyer also claims he has been blocked from lodging an appeal.
In a BBC interview he said, "If you mean by 'military victory' an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don't believe that is possible".
