The Role Of Insects In The Evolution Of Human Intelligence
 http://home.earthlink.net/~jjjthomas/Insect&EvolHu...

This is an explanation of a theory that sometime in the distant past, parasitic insects transferred DNA to our ape ancestors allowing them to process information from the environment much faster than usual. The result was vastly increased intelligence and the beginings of human evolution.

From the abstract:

"It is hypothesized that that insect acquired a superior sub-cellular logic processor, and 6M years ago introduced it into the Chimp's genome, causing its 'overnight' transformation to intelligent Man. A rare en-masse ear infestation case, supportive of this hypothesis is [also] summarized".

Article is great fun if you love strange science theories with apparently no basis in fact :eggplant:
